I've been considering how easy it seems to get banned on Reddit, even for something that appears to be just a normal question. I understand that each subreddit has its own rules and that the moderators have to keep the discussions under control. However, there's a distinction between violating a rule and posing a question that a moderator doesn't like.
It's confusing because you never know where the line lies. A question may be entirely genuine, but it could still be seen as trolling, baiting, or an attempt to start an argument depending on the subreddit.
I'd like to know how other people have coped with this situation. Have you ever been banned from a subreddit or had one of your posts deleted, even though you genuinely believed you were obeying the rules? Did the moderators tell you what the issue was, or were you given a ban message with little or no explanation?
I am not arguing that all bans are unfair. I merely believe there should be a reasonable means of determining what went wrong, particularly in cases where a person is attempting to take part in a discussion rather than cause trouble.
